About Rhea Pearse – Trauma-Informed Counsellor in Sale, Greater Manchester
I’m Rhea Pearse, and I have been a therapist for over twelve years.
For more than eight of those years, I worked at a rape crisis centre, supporting women who have endured the profound impact of historic rape and sexual abuse. Through this role, I developed a deep understanding of trauma-informed care and the courage it takes to rebuild trust and safety after trauma.
I currently work as an affiliate counsellor with New Pathways, supporting survivors of sexual violence. Prior to this, I worked with unpaid carers, gaining valuable insight into the emotional strain of long-term caring responsibilities.
In addition to my counselling practice, I am a qualified counselling supervisor, offering both individual and group supervision to other therapists. As a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I am committed to ongoing professional development, ensuring that my practice remains informed by the latest research and ethical standards.
Counselling in Sale – Safe, Compassionate, and Person-Centred
In my private practice in Sale, I offer affordable counselling in a safe and non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and life challenges with a trusted professional.
My goal is to empower you to cultivate self-understanding and acceptance, find a sense of safety within yourself, and ultimately move toward healing and growth.
My approach is person-centred, built on empathy, active listening, and deep respect for your unique lived experience. I also offer inner child therapy, recognising how early experiences can shape our emotional patterns in later life.
Trauma-Informed and Collaborative
My work is fundamentally trauma-informed, acknowledging the far-reaching effects of trauma on mental and emotional wellbeing. I believe that therapy is a collaborative journey — one built on trust, openness, and compassion.
I strive to create a warm and supportive environment where you always feel heard and valued.
I specialise in supporting adults navigating the aftermath of traumatic events, including:
Survivors of sexual violence, rape, and childhood abuse
Complex PTSD (C-PTSD)
Issues affecting women
Anxiety, depression, and low mood
Grief, stress, and questions around life purpose
My Background and Personal Journey
I am a Trinidadian woman who moved to the UK more than twenty years ago. I understand the courage it takes to move countries, start over, and build a new life — and the pain of being far away from family, friends, and culture.
As a wife and mother of two daughters, I also understand how demanding but rewarding parenting can be. When my first daughter was born, I made the choice to become a full-time homemaker for several years before retraining as a counsellor. I know how intimidating it can feel returning to work after a prolonged time away, and this personal experience helps me connect deeply with clients navigating transition and change.
